South Lakes Society for the Blind provides the following services.
For individuals with sight problems.
Everyday living aids such as pens, easy-to-see and talking watches, kitchen equipment, games etc.
Electronic magnifiers, reading machines and other “hi-tech” aids.
Computers - magnified computers, talking computers, even individual computer programs written to suit you individual needs. Free computer training and support.
Many items of equipment (including computers) are available for loan. If you want to buy, smaller items are available to purchase on the day, or we have a free ordering service for other items.
Information on all aspects of sight loss, available in the format of your choice (Large print, audio, Braille etc.)

3 Our Sight Advice Centre is in Stricklandgate House in Kendal and has our full range of equipment and information.
4 Home visits can be arranged if you cannot get to the Sight Advice Centre.
5 Our Hospital Information Desk situated in Westmorland General Hospital.
6 Information Groups offer a structured but friendly way of seeing the equipment and information.
7 Children, young people and their families can access all the same facilities plus special activities and support.
8 Other organisations, both local and national, also offer useful services for people with sight problems.

9 Training in visual awareness and using assistive technology can be delivered to outside organisations such as businesses schools and colleges.
