Anyone who has a sight problem which cannot be fully corrected with spectacles
Has difficulty reading print or watching television
Is registered as visually impaired
How can we help you?
The Low Vision Practitioner will assess your useful vision, provide advice on lighting and a range of magnifiers to help with near and distance vision.
South Lakes Society for the Blind has a representative at the Kendal and Windermere Clinics. Barrow Blind Society attend the Barrow and Grange Clinics. They can explain about the range of equipment and support available in their areas.
A Rehabilitation Officer from Adult and Cultural Services will also attend the clinics and explain about promoting Independent Living Skills, Mobility Skills and other support available.
How can I refer to make an appointment?
You need to have had your eyes tested at an opticians within the last 6 months and have a copy of your latest prescription. You can then refer yourself to the Community Patient Contact Centre to arrange an appointment. Their phone number is 0845 055 9990 (Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 8.00 pm).
